Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- Intellectuals were awarded academic degrees and titles with due ceremony on Tuesday on the occasion of the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.
The conferment of those degrees and titles were made in recognition of their successes in researches and education which made contributions to building a knowledge-based economic power and a highly civilized nation.
The title of candidate academician went to teacher Jon Ryong Sam at Kim Il Sung Higher Party School; head of department Han Kwang Ryong, teacher An Jong Do, guidance teacher Kim Sung Gyu and researcher Song Song Gwan at Kim Il Sung University; head of department Kim Haeng Son at Kim Chaek University of Technology and researcher Sim Ho Sik at Pyongyang University of Railways.
Professorship was awarded to college rector Jong Kwang Yong, heads of departments Kim Nam Hyok and Kim Jin Myong at Kim Il Sung University; college rector Kim Il Nam, vice-dean of faculty Kim Kang Su, heads of departments Ju Kyong Yop and Ri Man Gun at Kim Chaek University of Technology; vice-president Min Hyon Chun of Pyongyang University of Railways; researcher Ri Hyon Sun of the Academy of Social Sciences and researcher Ri Won Myong of the Academy of Medical Science.
Doctorate was conferred upon Kim Myong Chol, head of department at Kim Il Sung University, Jang Myong Guk, room chief of Pyongyang Medical College of Kim Il Sung University, and others while 114 intellectuals were awarded the title of associate professor and 716 others master's degree. -0-
