"The body of Regeni could have been a small snowball, had it not been dealt with negligence. As a result, and because of repeated mistakes regarding that matter, it became a bigger and more dangerous snowball. The government felt the gravity of the situation after the European Parliament statement and repeated attacks from European and Italian newspapers. The delegation that it sent to Italy to resolve the matter was supposed to impress the Italians by the serious investigations done. However, it shocked them with a 2,000-page document not translated into Italian! As a result, Rome summoned its ambassador in Cairo for consultation. After all these annoying developments, the only response that Egypt's Foreign Ministry had is a statement saying that it has not been informed of the withdrawal of the ambassador. "
